Staying Secure on Windows 11

Windows 11 includes advanced security features to protect your data and our company network. Understanding and using these features is essential for every Alpha Development employee.

Key Security Features

  • Windows Defender Antivirus: Built-in, always-on protection against viruses, malware, and ransomware. Keep it enabled at all times.
  • Windows Hello: Biometric authentication using your face, fingerprint, or PIN. More secure than passwords.
  • BitLocker Drive Encryption: Encrypts your entire hard drive so data is safe if your device is lost or stolen.
  • Firewall & Network Protection: Monitors incoming and outgoing network traffic for threats.
  • Controlled Folder Access: Protects your files from unauthorized changes by ransomware.
  • Secure Boot & TPM 2.0: Hardware-level security that prevents unauthorized code from running during startup.

Security Best Practices

  2. Use strong, unique passwords and enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  3. Keep Windows updated – install updates promptly when prompted
  4. Do not install unauthorized software – contact IT for software requests
  5. Report suspicious activity immediately to IT Support
